2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid – What You Need to Know

The new 2023 Honda CR-V has been redesigned completely to compete in the cutthroat compact SUV market. The new CR-V design boasts larger dimensions, making it more comfortable for passengers and promising increased functionality. The Civic compact car served as the basis for its beautiful interior design, which is complimented by cutting-edge technology including a navigation system and an entertainment system with a 9.0-inch touchscreen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All CR-Vs come equipped with advanced driver aids like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping assist. The base engine is a turbo four that produces 190 horsepower, while a hybrid system that produces 204 horsepower is available as an upgrade. The CR-V offers a pleasant ride and confident, if uninspiring, driving manners with either engine, and both are available with front- or all-wheel drive.

Engine, Drivetrain, and Efficiency

In the vertical grille of every CR-V is a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 190 horsepower. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive can be paired with its CVT. In the EX and EX-L trims, this configuration comes standard. Only the hybrid drivetrain, consisting of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors producing a total of 204 horsepower, is available for the Sport and Sport Touring trims. Even though both front- and all-wheel drive are available for the Sport, the Sport Touring comes standard with all-wheel drive.

Fuel Consumption and MPG

A 190-horsepower 1.5-liter gas engine and a 204-horsepower 2.0-liter gas engine and two electric motors are both available as powertrain choices for the CR-V. The most fuel-efficient CR-V is the front-wheel-drive Sport Hybrid, which scores 43 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, while the front-wheel-drive CR-V with the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder earns EPA estimates of 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

Interior, Comfort, and Space

The air vents in the Honda CR-V are concealed under a honeycomb-textured inlay that stretches across the entire dashboard, contributing to the vehicle’s attractive interior appearance. A largely digital gauge cluster, including an analog speedometer and a 7.0-inch touchscreen on which the driver can toggle between informational menus, is housed into the steering wheel. Honda claims that the new CR-driving V’s posture and front seats were made to reduce driver tiredness on lengthy trips. The front seats fold down into a huge storage bin, while the back seats recline to provide an extra 0.6 inches of legroom compared to the outgoing CR-V. Cargo capacity is 36 cu ft. behind the second row, or 39 cu ft. in gas-only variants with the load floor lowered.

Connectivity and Infotainment

On the EX and Sport, Honda’s CR-V offers an infotainment system controlled by a 7.0-inch touchscreen. In addition to supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the system also includes physical volume and tuning knobs. A 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard on the EX-L and Sport Touring. The larger display lacks a tuning knob, but there are two USB-C ports for rear-seat passengers and wireless smartphone charging in addition to the built-in navigation. The CR-V Sport Touring is the only trim level that can be had with the 12-speaker Bose audio system.
